About Dunn’s River Falls

One of Jamaica’s most notorious tourist attractions is the Dunn’s River Falls. The world-renowned Falls extends over 600 ft from source to mouth and is approximately180 ft high. Dunn’s River’s climbability and presence of several cascading domes, which provide natural thermal springs and natural masseuses, allow you to wash all your worries away – after all “Jamaica, No Problem Mon!”

The climb is usually supervised by a licensed tour guide and can take anywhere from 45 mins to 1.5 hours to accommodate for breaks, photo opps and general relaxation as the cool, refreshing water allows you to unwind. However if you wish to climb the falls on your own that’s also an option, as well as a staircase along the falls that you can utilise for a dryland “climb”.

  • The Spaniards who settled on the island referred to the area of Ocho Rios (which translates to “Eight Rivers”) as such because there are eight rivers located in this city.
  • Evenmoreso, the location that Dunn’s River stands is called “Las Chorreras,” which means “waterfalls/springs”. In 1657 there was the famous battle of “Las Chorreras” between the Spanish and English for possession of Jamaica. The Falls were acquired by the Jamaican government in 1972, to provide for future development of recreational and park facilities.

Ys Falls in Jamaica is more than just a waterfall — it’s a full countryside experience. The journey begins with a scenic jitney ride through beautifully manicured fields, where you’ll see grazing horses and cattle along the way. Once there, visitors can swim in the cool cascading falls and relax in three additional freshwater pools. With comfortable lounge chairs and an open-air restaurant serving delicious lunch options, Ys Falls offers the perfect mix of adventure, relaxation, and natural beauty

Beautiful, with natural water and multiple artificial pools to choose from. Mini water falls to look at, and a tarzan rope if your are feeling adventurous.
There is a gift shop with bird feeders that the doctor birds visit. And a snack bar and bar, but you can bring your own food.
