Rose Hall Great House
About Rose Hall Great House
Whether you’re a horror film enthusiast, a person fascinated with conspiracy, a history fanatic or generally a curious George, the Rose Hall Great House will be an experience that you’ll talk about for years. This attraction is a restored 18th century mansion, home of Annie Palmer who gained the title of ‘Wicked White Witch of Rose Hall’ from the various stories told across the island. The mansion was built on the Rose Hall estate which stretched over 6,000 acres of land, most of which was used as a sugar cane plantation and pasture for hundreds of cattle. The home has a vast selection of rooms, each accompanied with a story of a tragic and/or bizarre event that transpired decades ago.
The Great House is in pristine condition and dressed with everything still in place to preserve the historical value. The Rose Hall Great House offers both day and night guided tours in over 10 languages, with each tour lasting 45 minutes to an hour. Legend has it that Palmer murdered three of her husbands and several male slaves with whom she allegedly had a romantic rendezvous, only to be murdered herself by her lover at the time. The tour guides provide insight on the history of the house, the plantation it sits on and tells stories about Annie’s life on the plantation.
